Newark Police investigate shooting at area motel

4:11 p.m., June 17, 2013--Newark Police are investigating a shooting injuring two people that occurred around 1 p.m., Monday, June 17, at a motel at 1120 South College Ave., Newark.

A hotel clerk contacted Newark Police to report that a woman and man walked into the lobby saying they had been shot by a male acquaintance in the rear parking lot of the complex.

The woman, 22, sustained a graze wound, and the man, 38, had a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Both were taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment, and neither wound is reported to be life threatening. Both have been released from the hospital.

Police concluded a search for the suspect at the motel, and he was not found. They are now working to confirm the shooter's identity. Members of the UD Police Department assisted with the investigation.
