North Campus deployment of new VoIP phones continues

10:51 a.m., June 7, 2013--A team from UD vendor Dimension Data will be making its way to North Campus buildings throughout next week, as deployment of the new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones continues. North Campus is defined as buildings north of Main Street, predominantly those with building codes that begin with NN (Newark North).

After North Campus, deployment will proceed to West, South, East and finally Central Campus. The campuswide deployment schedule will continue into July.

During deployment, new Centrex phone line installations will be processed on a case-by-case basis. Centrex phone lines that need to be moved within the same building will still be made, but building-to-building phone line moves are unavailable.  

Faculty and staff are reminded that until the entire campus is “cut over” to the new VoIP phone service in mid-August, they will need to keep two phones on their desks. Existing Centrex phone service continues in its entirety, handling incoming calls, outgoing calls and voicemail. Until the “cut over,” the new VoIP phones will only function for outgoing calls. The new VoIP phones, manufactured by Cisco, have been selected to mirror the features on the current Centrex phone.
