“She typifies the quiet dedication and often invisible role of staff members who are absolutely essential to making the University's academic programs work," Crawford said.
Nina Warren, senior administrative assistant in the Department of English, said Olney complements professional excellence with a personal touch.
“Kaylee comes in every day and makes it a point to say hello to each of us before she goes into her office,” Warren said. “She is a great communicator and keeps everyone organized and on the right page.”
As HR liaison, Olney’s duties include keeping payroll forms, onboarding (helping new employees to experience a smooth transition to the campus community), S-contracts and serving as the go-between person in fielding questions from faculty and staff.
“I enjoy interacting with the wide variety of faculty, staff and students,” Olney said. “The University is a very welcoming and supportive environment.”
A 2001 graduate of UD who plans to pursue a master’s degree as a part-time student, Olney said she enjoys being back on campus and being recognized for her contributions.
“I have only been at UD for two years, so I was very surprised and humbled to find out that I had been nominated for HR Liaison of the Quarter,” Olney said. “I appreciate my colleagues’ confidence in my work, and that they trust me to serve as a reliable resource of policy and procedural information at the University.”
