SWAT exercise
Exercise for regional SWAT officers set on campus July 11
2:43 p.m., July 5, 2012--More than 400 SWAT officers from throughout the region will be participating in a full-scale training exercise Wednesday, July 11, on the East Campus, and some roads in the area will be closed. The exercise will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude after noon.
The exercise will take place at Penny Hall and the Harrington Residence Hall complex. Beginning at 5:30 a.m., July 11, Academy Street will be closed from Lovett Avenue to Park Place and Courtney Street will be closed from Academy Street to Manuel Street. UD will have staff at both ends of Academy Street to redirect traffic and assist those who usually park in the vicinity.
UD employees who park in the Perkins Student Center parking garage or in lots off Academy Street will be allowed into the areaa on July 11 by Public Safety staff stationed on Academy Street at Park Place and Lovett Avenue. Drivers should be prepared to show their parking stickers.
