Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, library to present illustrated travel lectures

12:50 p.m., Feb. 22, 2013--Beginning Feb. 27, three instructors from the University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will present illustrated lectures in a series co-sponsored by Osher and the Woodlawn Library in Wilmington.

Each of the lecturers will take the audience along on a virtual tour of one of their recent journeys, complete with illustrative slides.

Fulbright awards

Three University of Delaware students and an alumna have received word this spring that they will travel abroad as part of the newest class of Fulbright Student Program award winners.

Peace Corps plans

Two University of Delaware students, John McCarron and Bridgette Spritz, have been selected as Peace Corps volunteers and will serve in Ghana and Rwanda.

The first lecture in the series will be “Paris and the Rhone River Cruise” by Don Grimes on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Steve Dombchik will speak on New Zealand and Australia on Wednesday, March 6, and the final lecture will be “Mongolia, the Land of Ghengis Khan” by Ken Mulholland on Wednesday, March 13.

The Woodlawn Library is located at 2020 W. 9th St. in Wilmington. The lectures are free and begin at 7 p.m. Please register by calling 302-571-7425.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware in Wilmington is a membership organization for adults 50 and over to exchange ideas, take classes, teach and travel in the company of their peers.

The program is a learning cooperative whose members are its students, planners, instructors, committee members and facilitators.
