Office of Equity and Inclusion announces workshop 'ABCs of LGBT'
9:08 a.m., Feb. 28, 2013--The University of Delaware Office of Equity and Inclusion will be offering a new workshop for the UD community to increase understanding of the LGBTQ community.
Entitled “ABCs of LGBT,” the hour-long workshop will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 18, in Room 261 at 413 Academy Street.

“In the work we do on campus, we strive for building allies across groups,” says Paul Hengesteg, OEI program coordinator. “However, that might be a big leap for people if they haven’t been given basic information first, especially around topics that can be confusing and sensitive like sexual orientation and gender identity.”
The workshop will provide attendees with clarity of multitude of identities that comprise the LGBTQQIAA community. These identities, represented by a letter, are often referred to colloquially as “alphabet soup,” which is how the title of the workshop was born. Alternatively, if someone knows about the LGBTQ community, the workshop offers an opportunity to refresh the memory.
