9:22 a.m., Feb. 5, 2013--The University of Delaware, with joint support of the University of Delaware Library and Information Technologies, has become a member of the New Media Consortium (NMC) beginning this year.

The New Media Consortium describes itself as “an international community of experts in educational technology — from the practitioners who work with new technologies on campuses every day; to the visionaries who are shaping the future of learning at think tanks, labs, and research centers; to its staff and board of directors; to the advisory boards and others helping the NMC conduct cutting edge research."

Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

The institutional membership in the consortium will provide regular communication to the library and IT from the NMC about key issues, as well as a substantial reduction in the registration fees for conference attendance by any current member of the University faculty or staff or UD student.

Librarians from the Student Multimedia Design Center have regularly attended the annual NMC conference held each June, and said they have found it a valuable resource for learning and sharing. The 2013 conference will be held in June at Hilton Head, S.C.

Further information about the New Media Consortium can be found at the organization’s website, and a list of NMC member organizations is available online.
