Colloquium to consider 'Security and Identity in Global Governance'

12:15 p.m., Feb. 8, 2013--“Security and Identity in Global Governance” is the theme of a spring colloquium sponsored by the University of Delaware’s Department of Political Science and International Relations.

Presentations will be held from 2:30-4 p.m., on selected Fridays, Feb. 15 through April 19, in 108 Memorial Hall.

Fulbright awards

Three University of Delaware students and an alumna have received word this spring that they will travel abroad as part of the newest class of Fulbright Student Program award winners.

Peace Corps plans

Two University of Delaware students, John McCarron and Bridgette Spritz, have been selected as Peace Corps volunteers and will serve in Ghana and Rwanda.

The sessions are as follows:

Friday, Feb. 15, “Darth Realism: Embracing the Dark Side of Collective Identity,” Jennifer Sterling-Folker, University of Connecticut.

Friday, Feb. 22, “Consociation and Courts: Human Rights versus Power-Sharing,” Brendan O’Leary, University of Pennsylvania.

Friday, March 1, “Ideological Entrepreneurs and Challenged State Authority: The Israeli State and Violent Jewish Non-State Actors,” Barak Mendelsohn, Haverford College.

Friday, April 12, “International Political Authority: Nuclear Nonproliferation and the IAEA in the 1990s,” Robert Brown, Temple University.

Friday, April 19, “Deliberation in a Non-Democratic Context: A Field Experiment on Town Hall Meetings in Rural Cambodia,” Susan Hyde, Yale University.
