Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Dining Services is encouraging staff and students to take the extra step and recycle heavily during this time. In 2012, the UD RecycleMania program contributed 314,369 pounds to be recycled. This year’s goal is 450,000 pounds.

"We are excited about what the UD community will do to reach new heights in this year’s competition," said Ilex Pounders, marketing manager for Dining Services.

The following items are just a few of the many that can be recycled:

• catalogs and magazines,

• junk mail and office paper,

• newspaper and phonebooks,

• cardboard,

• plastic bottles (soda, water, juice, laundry detergent),

• aluminum cans,

• glass bottles and jars and

• disposable dinnerware and napkins,

To participate, place any recyclable item in any of the one-source recycling containers located throughout the campus.
