11:24 a.m., Dec. 7, 2012--The winter holiday break at the University of Delaware has begun for students, who had their last final examinations on Friday, Dec. 14.

Classes will resume Thursday, Jan. 3, with the beginning of Winter Session.

2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

University offices will close from Monday, Dec. 24, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, reopening on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Library hours

The University of Delaware Library has announced the Morris Library will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 17, through Friday, Dec. 21.

The Morris Library will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, and will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2, following the University calendar.

The Agriculture Library, the Chemistry Library, the Marine Studies Library and the Physics Library will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 17, through Friday, Dec. 21. They will be closed Saturday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, and will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

The electronic library of the University of Delaware Library, which is available 24/7, provides access for faculty, students and staff of the University of Delaware to a rich array of online library resources including DELCAT, WorldCat Local, databases, full-text information, eJournals, eNewspapers, eBooks, Research Guides, the Institutional Repository and much more. A mobile-friendly version of the University of Delaware Library web page is available.

Athletics

The Bob Carpenter Center will host several basketball games during the break. The UD women’s basketball team will host the University of Maryland at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, with the men’s basketball team at home the following evening, Friday, Dec. 21, against the University of Pennsylvania.

The men’s team also will play a New Year’s Eve Tip-Off game at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31, against Rider University.

Bookstore

The Barnes and Noble UD Bookstore will be open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturdays and weekdays and from noon-6 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 23.

The bookstore will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 24, with story time at 1 p.m. followed by cookies and milk. It will be closed Christmas day.

The bookstore will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Saturday, Dec. 29, and from noon-6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 30.

Hours on New Year’s Eve, Monday, Dec. 31, will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. It will be closed on New Year’s Day.

With the start of Winter Session, the bookstore will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, and from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Jan. 3-4.

Winter Session hours will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and noon-6 p.m., Sunday.

The Apple Authorized Campus Store on the second floor of the facility will be open the same hours as the UD Bookstore.

Campus Mail Services

Campus Mail Services will offer reduced service on Friday, Dec. 21, announcing that:

  • There will be no scheduled afternoon pickup at white campus mailboxes that day.
  • Any campus office that will be closed should contact Campus Mail to hold delivery.
  • If you require a large pickup of mail, please call Campus Mail by noon.

Development Office

For the convenience of donors who wish to make a contribution, the Office of University Development can be reached at 302-831-2104 and will be staffed from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, Friday, Dec. 28, and Monday, Dec. 31. Gifts may also be made online at any time by visiting www.udel.edu/makeagift.

Ice arenas

UD Ice Arenas will hold holiday skating sessions at the Fred Rust Ice Arena from 1-3:15 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21; from 10 a.m.-noon, 1-3:15 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22; from 1-3:15 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23; and from 1-3:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24.

The arena will be closed for Christmas, Tuesday, Dec. 25.

The arena will be open from 1-3:15 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, Thursday, Dec. 27, and Friday, Dec. 28.

Hours will be from 10 a.m.-noon, 1-3:15 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, and from 1-3:15 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30.

Note that there will be a live DJ during the 1-3:15 p.m. sessions on Dec. 28-30.

The arena will be open from 1-3:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, and from 1-4 p.m. on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Parking Services

Parking Services has announced that it will close at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, for the holiday break. All online services will be available.

Residence halls, dining

Residence halls closed at 10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14.

Residence halls will reopen for Winter Session with check-in from 2-9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2. The first meal in dining halls will be dinner that day.

UDairy Creamery

UDairy Creamery will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, until Wednesday, Jan. 2, reopening on Thursday, Jan. 3.

Until Dec. 24, hours are 9 a.m.-8 p.m., weekdays, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m., weekends.
