11:58 a.m., Dec. 19, 2012--The Toronto Police Service has announced that it positively identified a woman found in Toronto who was known only as "Linda" as Linda Hegg, 56, who was reported missing from Newark in November

Newark Police issued a press release Nov. 5 alerting the public that Hegg, who suffers from an undisclosed medical condition, was reported missing from her home. That notice was posted on UDaily, where it was seen by a person in Canada who was familiar with the Toronto Police effort to identify the woman known only as "Linda." UD put the reader in contact with Newark Police who in turn contacted the Toronto Police Service and then assisted in the investigation.

After an intensive investigation, the Toronto Police Service used DNA to positively identify the subject as Linda Hegg.

According to the Toronto Police Service new release, "When officers spoke to Linda and told her that they knew who she was, she smiled and her eyes lit up. It was the first time in two months investigators had seen Linda smile."

Toronto Police said Hegg is now in a hospital in Newark, with her family.
