Faculty, staff and student participants set individual activity goals and tracked their weekly progress in personal activity logs. Twenty-three finishers who met their goals were randomly drawn winners and received prizes provided by University and community donors.
A total of 168,593 minutes of activity were reported by the end of the challenge. These minutes are equivalent to 117 24-hour days -- enough time to keep one imaginary person exercising non-stop throughout the entire fall semester.
‘Turkey Trot’ fitness program
Additionally, 50 faculty and staff who regularly use the Employee Fitness Center completed a free four-week holiday fitness challenge.
The “Turkey Trot” program challenged participants to complete at least 30 minutes of physical activity originating from the Employee Fitness Center on 12 days between Nov. 14 and Dec. 1.
Optional strength training exercises were offered as a way to enhance the workout experience during the busiest time of the semester.
Finishers received their choice of a UD beanie hat or a HealthyU string bag.
