Alumni invited to cheer Hens at New Year's Eve basketball game
9:14 a.m., Dec. 14, 2012--University of Delaware alumni are invited to cheer on the Blue Hens men’s basketball team during a special “Tip-Off the New Year” game at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31.
The game at UD’s Bob Carpenter Center will feature the Hens against Rider University in a non-conference contest.

Alumni who attend can join the Radio Disney pre-game event in the main lobby of the Bob Carpenter Center. There will be interactive entertainment including music and prizes, and goodies for a halftime “Countdown with Radio Disney” activity.
Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.
Other UD alumni activities are scheduled as follows:
Thursday, Dec. 20, 5:30 p.m.: UD women's basketball. Prior to watching the Blue Hens women’s basketball team take on the University of Maryland Terrapins, join the Office of Alumni Relations for a pregame reception in the lobby of the new addition of the Bob Carpenter Center. All guests will be entered into a raffle for UD prizes.
Thursday, Jan. 10, 6 p.m. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Richmond alumni will host a special event at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where UD alumna Kathy Gillis, a 1972 graduate, will lead a behind-the-scenes tour of the conservation department. Afterward, alumni can enjoy the special exhibit featuring works by world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly.
Wednesday, Jan. 16, 6 p.m.: Boston happy hour. UD alumni in Boston will get together for a winter warmer happy hour at the Mass Ave Tavern.
Thursday, Jan. 17, 6 p.m.: New Castle County open board meeting, happy hour. The New Castle County Alumni Club will hold an open board meeting and happy hour at Bahama Breeze at Christiana Mall. There will be free appetizers as alumni share their thoughts for events for the club’s 2013 calendar.
Friday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m.: Winter Lecture Series. Alumni are invited to join members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware for a lecture in the Conference Suite of the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. The topic will be “An Insider’s History of Public Radio.” The lecture is open to alumni and non-alumni ages 50 and older.
Friday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m.: Winter Lecture Series. Alumni are invited to join members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware for a lecture in the Conference Suite of the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. The topic will be “Implications of the 2012 Presidential Election.” The lecture is open to alumni and non-alumni ages 50 and older.
