11:03 a.m., Aug. 6, 2012--University of Delaware Information Technologies has announced an improved test scoring service.

When clients run a test scoring job, they will now receive an additional file -- an item analysis of test questions that has been created using the scanning program.

2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

ITEMAL, the program that performs item analyses of individual test questions, also analyzes entire tests. It can be used to analyze data collected on optical scan sheets and already processed by the test scoring program.

Clients can use the new data file to assess the quality of individual questions given on an exam. See the ITEMAL help page for additional information.

Clients can download and print data sent to them by the University’s test scoring service; however, clients are reminded that they should not ordinarily store the data on their personal computer. If clients must retain the data, they are responsible for making sure the data files are encrypted. See the University’s information about tools for securing data.

Procedures starting Jan. 3, 2013

Several new procedures will be implemented in January:

  • Output files will only be available through the UD Dropbox. Clients will receive an email message with a link to obtain the files.
  • Clients will not receive any extra files in their UNIX home directory that were produced using “standard options.” These files will be available through UD’s Dropbox.
  • Clients must pick up their scanning forms from the Smith Service Desk within one week of submitting the job. During finals, scanning will be returned within two business days.
  • Unclaimed forms will be returned to a client's department through UD’s campus mail.

If you have questions about the test scoring process, review the online instructions or contact the IT Support Center.
