University Library announces survey iPad mini prize winners
4:16 p.m., April 17, 2013--The University of Delaware Library recently surveyed UD students, faculty and staff using the LibQUAL+ library survey. This widely used and well-established national library survey instrument developed by the Association of Research Libraries assesses perception of quality of library services, facilities and collections to assist the University Library in planning for the future.
The survey was available online for three weeks from Feb. 27 through March 21 and surveys were completed by 2,526 participants. Results are being analyzed and information about the results will be made available to the University in the future, once the analysis is complete.

UD student participants who wanted to participate in a drawing for an iPad mini included their University email address when completing the survey. [Email addresses were not linked to responses.]
The Association of Research Libraries LibQUAL+ program provided the University Library with randomly drawn email addresses in a ranked order, which determined the two iPad winners.
On April 3, the University Library awarded two UD students with iPad mini prizes in the drawing for participation in the survey. The winners were Giovanna Wolanski, a sophomore, and Tasha Buffington, a master’s degree student.
“I use the Morris Library for research and working on group projects. It is a conveniently located place for students. The group study rooms are good for collaborative work, and planning for and carrying out class assignments,” said Wolanski, a student in the College of Engineering who is majoring in energy and environmental policy.
"The library is doing an excellent job. When I come to the Morris Library to do my research, it is usually to access the online journals from the library online and I always find the e-resources that I need,” commented Buffington. “I try to complete surveys as a UD student, but never won a drawing. I am so pleased to be a winner of the iPad mini as a result of participating in the library's survey.”
Buffington is a graduate student in the master’s program in Teaching English as a Second Language in the College of Education and Human Development.
The LibQUAL+ survey implementation is being administered by Sandra Millard, associate university librarian for Services, Outreach and Assessment, who chairs the Library Assessment Committee. The University of Delaware Library Assessment Committee members congratulated the prize winners. In addition to Millard, committee members include Julie Brewer, Erin Daix, Meg Grotti, Julia Hamm and Justin Wing.
