TEXT SIZE

1:17 p.m., April 30, 2013--The University of Delaware and the Fraunhofer Center for Molecular Biotechnology (CMB) have announced a joint call for collaborative molecular biotechnology proposals for translating basic discoveries into clinical/commercial applications from UD faculty and Fraunhofer scientists as part of a Collaborative Research Agreement between UD, Fraunhofer CMB and the state of Delaware.

UD-Fraunhofer Collaborative Research pilot research grants may support pilot data, technology development and graduate/undergraduate student fellowships. Teams must include at least one Fraunhofer CMB scientist and at least one UD faculty member.

Research Stories

Chronic wounds

UD's Millicent Sullivan and Kristi Kiick have received a $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health for research that could provide a new approach to the treatment of chronic wounds.

Prof. Heck's legacy

The American Chemical Society is highlighting the legacy of the late Nobel laureate Richard Heck, the Willis F. Harrington Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Delaware with a digital tribute on its publications website.

Launched in 2011, the UD-Fraunhofer CMB six-year partnership combines the strengths of the Fraunhofer Center for Molecular Biotechnology in applied translational research and of UD in basic research. Centered in the life sciences, the collaboration seeks to provide innovative, interdisciplinary programs and to create educational and economic benefits for the state.

Applications are due June 3; detailed proposal guidelines are available online.
