Armand A. Battisti, director of development in the College of Engineering, has been named the 2011 Fundraising Executive of the Year by the Brandywine Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He will receive the award on Philanthropy Day, Nov. 16, at Deerfield Gold and Tennis Club.
Battisti joined UD in 2008, and is currently focused on preparing the College of Engineering for a future capital campaign. He shares responsibility for the $56 million fundraising effort to build the University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory, scheduled for completion in 2013.
He previously spent nine years at Winterthur as deputy director of development and director of leadership gifts, where he successfully led several project campaigns including a multi-million dollar effort to create Enchanted Woods, the museum’s children’s garden. Prior to this appointment, he led West Chester University through its first capital campaign, Windows to the Future, raising $13 million.
Battisti’s career includes more than 30 years of institutional advancement experience with academic institutions, nonprofits and companies. His work has touched virtually all aspects of development and fundraising, including individual, corporate, foundation, planned giving, membership and government relations. He currently serves as treasurer of Brandywine AFP, and is a board member of the Engineering Development Forum.
