1:38 p.m., Sept. 1, 2011--Christopher Daniel Valentine, 25,  a 2008 alumnus of the University of Delaware, died unexpectedly Aug. 27, along with his close friend, Jean Baptista.

Mr. Valentine was a 2004 graduate of St. Mark's High School, where he played lacrosse for four years. He continued his education at UD with a degree in marketing, which he completed in 2008. An avid participant in intramural sports, he was known as a great team player. 

He worked at ING Direct before moving to San Diego and launching his own business. His interests included listening to techno music, making home videos, continuing his education, wearing obscure outerwear, starting email chains and not settling for the societal norms.

His friends will always remember his witty personality, unique sense of humor and charismatic charm. 

Mr. Valentine is survived by his parents, Rudy and Yolanda Valentine, and his sister, Jessica.

A viewing will be held at the Delaware Korean United Methodist Church, 717 Loveville Rd., Hockessin, from 10 a.m.-noon, Friday, Sept. 2. A celebration of life will follow at the Hockessin Volunteer Fire Company Banquet Hall, 1225 Old Lancaster Pike, Hockessin from 2- 5 p.m. 

Donations in his memory may be made to the Delmarva Search and Rescue Center, the Hockessin Volunteer Fire Company or  Special Olympics of Delaware.
