Nov. 9: Residence halls tour

Students can tour upperclass residence halls and win prizes

11:13 a.m., Oct. 26, 2011--Housing Assignment Services will host tours of the upperclass residence halls from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9. 

Students will be able to see rooms in Central, Ray Street and Independence complexes, as well as apartments in Christiana Towers. Buses will depart from both the Trabant University Center and Perkins Student Center and will proceed to each residential complex.

Housing Assignment Services is raffling “extra semesters” to increase students’ priority level on the 2012-13 Housing Application in addition to several mystery prizes and giveaways. 

While on the tour, Residence Life staff members will be available to answer questions about living on campus and will ride the buses with students.

There are a wide variety of housing options for students, including apartments, suites and traditional rooms. 

Amenities

The residence halls offer students a variety of amenities at no additional cost. Standard residence hall room furnishings include an extra long twin-sized bed with 80” mattress; hardwood, carpeted or tiled floors; window treatments; a desk and chair; and either a dresser or closet.

Technology and services in each residence hall include high-speed Ethernet data port, wireless access points, cable TV, in-building laundry, fitness center and athletic court access on each area of campus, private and group study lounges, immediate facilities support through the University Fix It! Hotline, community or private kitchens, adjustable heat, UD shuttle bus service and single-stream recycling.

UD also has numerous safety and security features, including 24-hour locked exterior door systems, video surveillance cameras outside each residence hall, door viewers in every room, alarm systems, security screens on first-floor windows, fire alarms linked to the Public Safety Office and emergency call buttons.
