Dumpster Detour

Program extends UDon't Need It? collection to additional campus locations


2:29 p.m., May 16, 2012--The University of Delaware Graduate Student Senate Sustainability Committee and S4E (Students for the Environment) will hold the first Dumpster Detour collection from May 17-19 and May 21-24.

Students moving out of residence halls at the end of the semester can bring any unwanted, reusable items to designated collection sites near the George Read and Rodney complex residential areas. Donations can include items such as furniture, appliances, electronics, clothing, household goods, office supplies, kitchenware, unopened toiletries, and any other reusable items.

June 6: UDid It! Picnic

All UD faculty and staff members are invited to attend the annual UDid It! employee appreciation picnic, set from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, June 6, on The Green.

2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

Volunteers will be on hand at Dumpster Detour donation drop-off sites to assist in collection at the following times:

  • Thursday, May 17: 2-5 p.m.
  • Friday, May 18: 2-5 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 19: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Monday, May 21: 2-5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 22: 2-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 23: Noon-10 p.m.

Donations will be delivered to the UDon’t Need It? campaign, which donates goods to local charities and families in need. The campaign keeps tons of materials from landfills annually while offering students a way to give back to the community.

This project is being coordinated with the assistance of S4E, and is funded by a grant from the UD Sustainability Fund.
