Volunteers sought for the UDon't Need It? Student Move Out Project
2:32 p.m., May 16, 2012--Volunteers are needed to assist with the sixth annual UDon't Need It? Student Move Out Project (UDNI), which gives UD students a chance to help the environment and the Newark community when leaving campus for the summer.
Sponsored by UD and the city of Newark, UDNI has kept more than 500 tons of materials out of local landfills since 2007 and has helped more than 200 local families through a network of local charitable organizations.

Donated furniture and household items are given to families in need and nonperishable foods go to project partner Food Bank of Delaware.
Since the project began, more than 7,000 pounds of clothing, shoes and bedding materials have gone to local charities, and more than 2,500 pounds of food have been donated.
Volunteers from the UD community are needed to work at the collection site, the former Curtis Paper Mill at 225 Paper Mill Rd., Newark. Del.
Since UDNI is congruent with the University's sustainability initiatives, UD employees who wish to volunteer during working hours are allowed to do so, with the following consideration:
• You must alert your supervisor/administrator of your desire to participate in the project and receive approval in advance; and
• Administrators and employees both understand that participation in this project does not require the use of personal vacation time.
The site will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 21, 22, 23 and 24, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31 and June 1. (The site is closed on Memorial Day, May 28.) The final sale day will be Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Those interested in volunteering should contact Deb Hoff McCredie at 302-831-8498 or email@example.com. Volunteers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots are filled.
