New database helps on-campus students find roommates

10:34 a.m., March 1, 2012--On-campus students searching for roommates for the 2012-13 academic year now have the opportunity to meet potential roommates with a safe, convenient tool developed by Housing Assignment Services. 

To access the Returning Student Roommate Matching Database, students must complete a registration form that provides information on their preferred on-campus housing complex, number of roommates and living habits.

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

For example, if two students are applying for a two-bedroom apartment in the Christiana Towers but need two more roommates, they can independently search the database for other UD students with similar living characteristics. 

Students should note that this tool is not monitored by Housing Assignment Services, although it is only available to University of Delaware students.

Once students find roommates, they should mutually request each other on the Housing Application prior to the March 15 deadline. All students should complete the Roommate Preferences Questionnaire provided on the Housing Application in the event that the roommate request cannot be accommodated.

All returning students should apply for campus housing by March 15 to guarantee an assignment for the 2012-13 academic year. Students who apply after the published deadline will be assigned as space permits.
