Women over 40 and those with family histories of breast cancer are particularly encouraged to get screened.
Each screening appointment will take approximately 30 minutes. The screenings will be conducted on a mobile health screening van and processed by Beebe Medical Center.
Results will be mailed to the participant’s primary care physician within a week. The van has recently been retrofitted with the most recent technology available.
Those interested should first check with their health insurer to find out whether this procedure is a covered benefit. Most providers cover one mammogram a year for women who are 40 or older and/or have a specific risk.
Pre-registration is required and appointments must be scheduled by Monday, April 30.
Individuals can find additional information and register by visiting the HealthyU website.
The van is managed and operated by Women’s Mobile Health Screening, a subsidiary of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, through a contract with Screening for Life, a program of Delaware’s Division of Public Health.
