UD men's ice hockey club team wins ACHA national championship
9:01 a.m., March 8, 2012--The University of Delaware men's ice hockey club team has won the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I national championship, defeating Oakland University 5-1 in a game played Wednesday evening at Hoover Arena in Cleveland.
It is the first ACHA Division I national title for the Blue Hens, who were presented the Murdoch Cup.

UD had the first four goals of the game -- with scores by Michael Piet, Christian Tasker, Christopher Volonnino and Connor Moore -- to build an insurmountable lead.
UD goalkeeper S.J. Broadt had an outstanding game and was named the tournament's most valuable player.
In winning the title, UD defeated three of the last four ACHA champions in Oakland, Lindenwood and Davenport.
