Honors
John Bishop, professor of human development and family studies, was honored by the International Association of Counseling Services "for distinguished service to the association and the university and college counseling community" for his work as a senior field visitor (accreditation officer).
Andrew Teplyakov, professor of physical chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has received the Delaware Section Award of the American Chemical Society. Teplyakov, who joined the UD faculty in 1998, conducts research focused on an interdisciplinary area of surface and thin film science that has resulted in more than 75 publications and more than 60 invited presentations. At the Delaware Section meeting on March 14, where the award was presented, Teplyakov also delivered a talk, "Chemistry of Semiconductor Surfaces in Vacuum and in Ambient."
Presentations
James M. Brophy, professor of history, presented "Transnational Dimensions to Rhenish Democratic Practices" at the Symposium on Politicization and Democracy in 19th-Century Germany, German Historical Institute, Paris, France, March 2.
Publications
Philip Goldstein, professor emeritus of English, Associate in Arts Program Wilmington, is the author of "Reception and/or (in)fusion: Interpretation and Literary Institutions in the 21st Century," which appears in the book Romancing Theory, Riding Interpretation: (In)fusion Approach, Salman Rushdie, edited by Ranjan Ghosh, New York, Peter Lang Publishing, 2012.
Margaret D. Stetz, Mae and Robert Carter Professor of Women's Studies and professor of humanities, has published an essay "Neo-Victorian Studies" in the Cambridge University Press journal Victorian Literature and Culture, Vol. 40, No. 1, 2012.
Margaret Andersen, associate provost and Edward and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Sociology, was featured on the home page of her alma mater, Georgia State University, in a story about how she has made diversity her life's work.
The Institute for Public Administration was cited in the February newsletter of the National Complete Streets Coalition for a recent publication, "Complete Streets in Delaware: A Guide for Local Governments." The publication, also noted on the Bike Delaware website, is available as a download from IPA's website.
