UD women's basketball team climbs to No. 12 in latest AP poll
8:35 a.m., Jan. 31, 2012--The University of Delaware women's basketball team has climbed to No. 12 in the latest Associated Press poll announced Monday.
The 18-1 Fightin' Blue Hens are ranked just behind Ohio State University (20-2) and just ahead of Rutgers University (17-4). Unbeaten Baylor University (21-0) leads the poll.

UD was ranked No. 16 in last week's poll.
The Hens are riding an eight-game winning streak, with recent victories over Colonial Athletic Association rivals Hofstra University (84-66) and James Madison University (72-65). The team's lone loss was to No. 9 Maryland on Dec. 29.
UD will travel to the University of North Carolina Wilmington for a CAA game at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, and will return home to the Bob Carpenter Center for two conference games -- at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, against Virginia Commonwealth University and at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, against Old Dominion University.
Junior All-American Elena Delle Donne leads the Hens and NCAA Division I, scoring 28.4 points per game. Lauren Carra is averaging 9.3 points per game and Danielle Parker 7.5 points per game.
