UD alumni plan range of special events, including lectures, museum tours
10:37 a.m., Feb. 24, 2012--University of Delaware alumni will gather for a variety of special activities -- including lectures, museum events and sports -- in the coming weeks.
Lectures include a DENIN Dialogue presentation by environmental writer Terry Tempest Williams and museum events include presentations at the Delaware Art Museum and a tour of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Alumni in California's Bay Area will take in an NHL hockey game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the San Jose Sharks.
Activities are as follows:
Saturday, Feb. 25, 11 a.m.: UD alumni volunteer at Whatcoat Shelter in Dover. Join fellow Blue Hens in serving lunch to those in need in Dover.
Saturday, Feb. 25, 2 p.m.: UD baseball game in South Carolina. Cheer on the UD baseball team as it takes on The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., in the third game of a four-game series.
Saturday, Feb. 25, 8:30 p.m.: UD reception at Association of American Geographers Conference in New York City. Join fellow Blue Hen College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment alumni, faculty and students for a private reception following the conference in New York City.
Tuesday, Feb. 28, 5:30 p.m.: UD Bay Area Alumni at Sharks vs. Flyers game in San Jose. Join Bay Area Blue Hens as the San Jose Sharks take on the Philadelphia Flyers in a National Hockey League contest, and enjoy a pre-game gathering at Old Wagon Wheel Saloon.
Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.: Washington, D.C., Alumni Club open board meeting. Join District of Columbia area Blue Hens at an open board meeting for event brainstorming, networking, light fare and UD spirit.
Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.: DENIN Dialogue Lecture Series: Terry Tempest Williams. The Delaware Environmental Institute will offer a presentation featuring renowned environmental writer Terry Tempest Williams. She will be interviewed by McKay Jenkins, Cornelius Tilghman Professor of English at UD.
Wednesday, Feb. 29, 6 p.m.: Black History Month Celebration hosted by the UD Black Alumni Organization and the Center for Black Culture. Celebrate the culmination of Black History Month at the UD Center for Black Culture and network with fellow alumni and current students
Friday, March 2, 12:30 p.m.: Delaware Art Museum Spring Lecture Series -- Director's Delights. Danielle Rice, director of the Delaware Art Museum, will take a personal look at some of the major masterpieces in the museum.
Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m.: UD Family Day at the Please Touch Museum. Join UD alumni and their families for a fun-filled day at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia.
Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m.: Kent and Sussex private cooking class at the Big Fish Grill. UD alumni will gather for a private cooking class at Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth Beach. Includes breakfast, lunch, dessert and an interactive entrée demonstration by the chef.
Saturday, March 3, 3 p.m.: UD Women's Lacrosse Alumnae Ice Breaker Event. Join UD alumni and students as head coach Kateri Linville, a 2003 UD graduate, and the Blue Hens take on LaSalle University at Delaware Stadium.
Wednesday, March 7, 6 p.m.: Northern New Jersey Alumni Club open board meeting. Join fellow Blue Hens living in northern New Jersey for the club’s open board meeting, share ideas, and enjoy happy hour appetizers and drinks.
Thursday, March 8, 5:30 p.m.: Reading Alumni Club happy hour. Join Reading, Pa., area Blue Hens at an event for young alumni.
Friday, March 9, 12:30 p.m.: Delaware Art Museum Spring Lecture Series -- Director's Delights. Join Danielle Rice, director of the Delaware Art Museum, as she takes a personal look at some of the masterpieces in the museum.
Saturday, March 10, 2:30 p.m.: UD alumni tour the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Join fellow Blue Hens for a tour of the Italian Renaissance Collection at the National Gallery of Art in the District of Columbia.
Monday, March 12, 6 p.m.: Homemade pasta and sauces cooking demonstration, Newark Campus. Learn how to prepare delicious homemade pastas and sauces from Vita Nova chef-instructor Debbie Ellingsworth, a 1977 UD graduate, in the Vita Nova satellite kitchen in the Trabant University Center.
Wednesday, March 14, 7:30 p.m.: Global Agenda 2012: Spies, Lies and Sneaky Guys. Global Agenda 2012 explores new challenges and opportunities in the field of international intelligence.
