Delayed opening alters schedules

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Deliveries

Packages and computers shipped to campus before move-in will be available at one of two package center on campus. For residents of East, West and Central campus, packages will be available at the Trabant Package Center in 056 Trabant University Center. For Laird Campus residents, packages will be available in the Christiana Common Package Room. Each package center is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

IT support

Information Technologies (IT) will operate remote support centers during move-in days at Christiana Commons, Dickinson C/D lower level, Harrington Commons and Rodney A/B lounge. Hours will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, and form 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Students also can call the IT Support Center at 302-831-6000. Hours will be extended on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and then return to normal, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Students also can email consult@udel.edu or text 302-722-6820 for IT assistance. 

Dining

Following is the Dining schedule for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 29-31:

--Brunch will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Pencader, Rodney, Russell and Kent Residential Dining Halls.

--Dinner will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. at Pencader, Rodney, Russell and Kent Residential Dining Halls.

--The Trabant Food Court will be open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

--The Scrounge in the Perkins Student Center will be open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

--Dunkin Donuts will be open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

--Markets (POD, Rodney and Harrington) will be open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Food carts and POD Gore Express will open with the regular semester schedule on Thursday, Sept. 1, when classes resume. 

Recreation

The Carpenter Sports Building is open the following hours: until 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29; from 6:45 a.m.-11 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1; from 6:45 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2; from noon-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3-4; and from 4-10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 5.

The Independence Gym will be open from noon-10 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, and from noon-6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2.

Harrington Gym is closed until further notice.

Recreation Activities Night will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Carpenter Sports Building.  

Shuttle buses

The campus shuttle bus loop for Monday, Aug. 29, has been updated on the UD Transportation website.  

For Associate in Arts students 

Students in the Associate in Arts Program at the Wilmington, Dover and Georgetown campuses will follow the same time schedule for the start of classes as the Newark campus: Thursday, Sept. 1.
