Newark Police arrest four for graffiti vandalism

4:32 p.m., Aug. 31, 2011--Newark Police have arrested four individuals, including two juveniles, in connection with recent graffiti vandalism incidents in the city.

A 17-year-old juvenile from Bear who uses the tag "Balad" was charged with two counts of graffiti, two counts of possession of graffiti implements, two counts of trespassing and two counts of conspiracy. The juvenile also was charged with manufacture of a nonnarcotic schedule 1 controlled substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Vandalized locations include the unit block of Scholar Drive and the 200 block of East Main Street, and damage is estimated at $900.

A 15-year-old juvenile from Newark who uses the tag "Repo" was charged with one count of graffiti, one count of possession of graffiti implements, one count of trespassing and one count of conspiracy. Vandalized location was in the 200 block of East Main Street, and damage was estimated at $100. 

The juveniles were each released on $2,000 unsecured bail pending a hearing in Delaware Family Court.

Rocco Bradley, 21, of Newark who uses the tag "Twerp," was charged with one count of graffiti and one count of possession of graffiti implements. Vandalized location was in the unit block of East Main Street, and damage was estimated to be $50. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail pending a hearing in the Delaware Justice of the Peace Court.

Zachary Hedinger, 19, of Bear who uses the tags "Beond" and "Ruged," was charged with eight counts of graffiti, eight counts of possession of graffiti implements and three counts of trespassing. Vandalized locations include the unit block of Madison Drive, the 400 block of New London Road, the unit block of Country Club Drive and the 1000 block of South College Avene, and damage was estimated to be $650.  He was released on $14,500 unsecured bail pending a hearing in the Delaware Court of Common Pleas. 

The Newark Police Department advises that it is important for business and home owners to report graffiti vandalism promptly to the police and that, once it is reported, graffiti should be removed.
