Safety chairs recognized for service

12:15 p.m., Aug. 12, 2011--Environmental Health and Safety has recognized the individuals who have served as safety chairs for their departments during the past year.

For many of these employees, serving in this function is an additional responsibility beyond their routine duties.

"All of the members of our safety committees on campus serve an instrumental role in fostering health and safety throughout the University," Krista Murray, biosafety officer in Environmental Health and Safety, said. "They help perform inspections of the buildings and labs, schedule fire drills and safety training sessions and address safety concerns specific to their workplaces. Please acknowledge and thank them for their efforts when you see them."
