Official UD Commencement regalia available only through UD Bookstore

1:47 p.m., April 4, 2012--The University Bookstore is the only approved vendor for University of Delaware Commencement items, including official and required University regalia (caps, tassels, gowns and hoods).

By using the University Bookstore exclusively, the University can determine which graduates intend to participate in Commencement exercises, and this exclusivity also ensures that the regalia worn at graduation will be uniform. Graduating students with noncompliant regalia may not be permitted to participate in Commencement exercises

A new gown is being used for Commencement this year. Made of ReNew fabric, it is recycled from postconsumer plastic bottles. This graduation gown fabric alternative provides a second use for PET (polyethylene terephthalate) material that would otherwise become part of a landfill. This year's new recycled gown is a truer royal blue and closer to the University's official colors; gowns from previous years will not be acceptable. 

Regalia to be worn at graduation must be purchased only at the UD Bookstore, 83 East Main St. 

For students

Students can purchase regalia now through Wednesday, April 18, at http://colleges.herffjones.com/college/ud/.  

Associate in Arts packages are $71, undergrad packages are $79 and master's degree packages are $86. Study abroad sashes are available for $40.

Ph.D. candidates should place their rental orders now through April 18 at http://colleges.herffjones.com/college/ud/. The rental fee is $125 and is nonrefundable.

For faculty and staff

For faculty and staff who need to order academic regalia, the deadline is also April 18, with the same $20 fee for late rentals. 

A full master's rental of the cap, gown, tassel and hood will be $93.  The doctoral rental, including the cap, gown, tassel and hood, is $102. 

To place an order, please contact Pete Lyon at the UD Bookstore. He will need the following information for the rental orders:  the person's height, weight, cap size, full title of degree and the name of the school, city and state from which the person graduated.

Departments that are covering the rental cost should provide the Bookstore with the Pro Card and name of the department contact who is responsible for payment. If the department is not covering the cost of the rental, payment is due when placing the order.
