UD to hold annual Kente Stole Ceremony, honoring students of African ancestry


4:10 p.m., April 2, 2012--The University of Delaware will hold its annual Kente Stole Ceremony, honoring students of African ancestry, at 7 p.m., Friday, May 25, in the main ballroom of Clayton Hall.

The event, sponsored by UD's Center for Black Culture, celebrates the accomplishments of members of the Class of 2012 and their families.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The Kente stoles, which are worn as an acknowledgement of one's African ancestry, symbolize accomplishment, community, unity and pride.

Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP before May 10 at this website.
