Young has been studying political humor and satire, particularly in late night programs such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, for more than a decade.

Young's work on the role and effects of late-night comedy in the changing political environment has been published in numerous journals including Media Psychology, Political Communication, International Journal of Press/Politics, Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, and Mass Media and Society.

In addition to political satire, she has research interests in political media effects, public opinion and the psychology of political humor.

For more on Young's research, see the clip on UD Capture.

A graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a double major in political science and French, Young received her master's degree and doctorate in communication from the University of Pennsylvania. She joined the UD faculty in 2006.

Radio Times with Marty Moss Coane is broadcast from the studios of WHYY (90.9 FM) in Philadelphia.
