2:33 p.m., Sept. 8, 2010----The Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware hotel on campus has announced a Very Important Parents Weekend for its VIP members, with the special weekend planned Sept. 17-19 for the home football game against Duquesne University.
The VIP Weekend was created in response to overwhelming demand and a sellout for the UD Parents Weekend of Oct. 15-17.
A special guest room rate of $119 per night and a welcome gift will be offered for all VIP parents. Also offered will be football tickets in Section A of the home stands; regularly priced at $27 each, the tickets will be offered to VIP members for $20 each. The hotel has 100 seats so VIP members are encouraged to act soon.
For those who are not yet members of the VIP, membership is free and can completed by visiting the VIP website.
Also for the VIP Weekend, the Courtyard's culinary and dining staffs have planned a series of food and beverage offerings as follows:
Friday, Sept. 17
- 3-8 p.m. -- Welcome table in the hotel lobby and VIP partner (restaurants, shops and attractions) tables in lobby with special offers for VIP members
- 6-8 p.m. -- Complimentary welcome cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception in the Marriott Lobby Lounge area.
- 6-9 p.m. -- Music provided by Frankie Junior. A cash bar will be available the entire evening. Call ahead for dinner reservations.
Saturday, Sept. 18
- 8-10 a.m. -- Breakfast buffet in Courtyard Café, $7.95. The UD mascot YoUDee will be available for a complimentary framed family photograph for each VIP family.
- 2-5:30 p.m. -- Tailgate Party in Lobby, featuring complimentary food items and a cash bar; a separate menu for “to-go” food items is available online.
- 5 and 5:30 p.m. -- Complimentary bus to Delaware Stadium for the Blue Hen football game (kick-off at 6 p.m.), with return trips 15 minutes and 30 minutes after the end of game.
Sunday, Sept. 19
- 7-11 a.m. -- Breakfast buffet in Courtyard Café for VIP members at $7.95, and families are encouraged to visit local attractions such as Longwood Gardens, Winterthur and Hagley Museum, with special discounts for VIP members.

Those interested are encouraged to act early as hotel staff expects to sell out the 126 guest rooms.
