8:30 a.m., Oct. 12, 2010----Allison Burris Castellanos, a member of the University of Delaware Board of Trustees, was among three people presented Hola Awards for their extraordinary character and achievements in helping strengthen the Hispanic community during a ceremony held Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

Four hundred people attended the second annual Hola Awards ceremony, which was presented by WGMD and Hola Media Network and featured an after-party concert with Latin Grammy nominee Prince Royce. The Hola Awards were created by radio personality Kevin Andrade.

Hola Award winners for extraordinary community service were Castellanos and the Rev. Rene Knight, pastor at Bethel United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

Castellanos, an educator and long-time advocate for the Latino-Latina community in Southern Delaware, teaches English as a second language at Delaware Technical and Community College. In addition to being a member of the UD Board of Trustees, she is a member of the board of La Red Health Center and organizes the annual Hispanic Festival in Millsboro.

Knight is a vocal advocate for issues related to immigration, civil rights and social justice who is actively involved in projects that improve the rights of immigrants.

Ramiro Herrera, owner of the La Tonalteca restaurant chain, was named entrepreneur of the year.
