10:08 a.m., Oct. 11, 2010----The Plastino Scholars Program was established in 2007 by a gift from University of Delaware alumnus David A. Plastino, and the program awards study grants to selected undergraduate students who exhibit extraordinary talent, promise and imagination.

The grants support self-designed, off-campus learning experiences that make a transformational difference in the lives of Plastino Scholars and enable them to pursue a passionate interest to a degree not otherwise possible.

The amount of each award will depend on the nature of the experience proposed.

Any undergraduate student at the University of Delaware may apply provided that, at the time of application, he or she is enrolled for at least 12 semester hours and has not completed more than five semesters.

Further information and application materials are available at the Plastino Scholars website.

Applications are due by Friday, Dec. 10.

For interested students, a Plastino Scholars interest meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 7-8 p.m. in Room 102 Gore Hall.
