3:22 p.m., Oct. 26, 2010----Sussan Tahmasebi, an activist whose efforts have been aimed at strengthening Iranian civil society with a focus on gender issues and women's rights, will speak from 2-3:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28, in Room 130 of Smith Hall.

Tahmasebi has conducted training in leadership and peace building, and continues to facilitate collaboration between Iranian and international civil society. She also is a founding member of the award-winning One Million Signature Campaign to promote changes to discriminatory laws and build female power in Iran.

The Oct. 28 presentation is free and open to the public.

It is sponsored by the Department of Women's Studies, the Department of History and the Islamic Studies Program.
