The event will include a story telling presentation by Ardavan Mofid, a writer, actor and director from California. Mofid will walk guests through some of the greatest stories selected from the Shahnameh, a poetic opus written by the Persian poet Ferdowsi around 1,000 AD. The presentations will be accompanied by zoorkhaneh music.

There will be a silent auction offering a variety of goods and services donated by the community and DJ Taba from Washington, D.C., will provide music in a variety of styles including Persian, international, hip hop, electronic, house and techno.

As part of the Persian Heritage event, there will be a celebration of Yalda, marked annually on Dec. 21 and of great significance in the Iranian calendar as the eve of the birth of Mithra, the Sun God, who symbolized light, goodness and strength on Earth.

Tickets can be purchased online and there is a $5 discount for students. For details, see the Persian Heritage event website.
