3:46 p.m., Nov. 9, 2010----The first University of Delaware-Peking University Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series will kick off Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 5-6:30 p.m., in 318 Gore Hall.

Prof. Kebin Liao from Peking University will present “China Seen through a Province: Traditional Culture, Economic Development, and Social Changes in Zhejiang Province.”

A professor of classical Chinese literature at Peking University, Liao has published extensively on Ming Dynasty literature, classical novels and drama.

He is a co-editor of the book Culture and Social Transformations in Reform Era China (Brill, 2010) and is on the editorial board of the journal Frontiers of Literary Studies in China.

The lecture, which is hosted by the UD College of Arts and Sciences, is free and open to the public. A reception will precede the event from 4:30-5 p.m.
