11:34 a.m., Nov. 4, 2010----The College of Engineering's Office of Pre-College and Special Program will hold a Family Friday event titled “Can a Graphing Calculator Hold Up a Roof?” from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, on the University of Delaware's Newark campus.
The event is designed to train parents and their middle-schoolers to use a graphing calculator in a real-life engineering scenario -- roof collapse in extreme weather.
Those who attend will have an opportunity to see civil and environmental engineering laboratories and meet UD engineering students.
Pizza will be provided.
The deadline for registration is Wednesday, Nov. 10, and the event is limited to 30 people. The registration fee is $2.50 per person.
Directions to the campus location and parking information will be sent upon receipt to the registration form and payment.
