UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Townsend, who joined the UD administration in 1969, retired in December 2009 as director of the Career Services Center after serving terms as assistant and later associate dean of students.

Sharf, who served UD for 35 years, retired from positions as senior psychologist with the Center for Counseling and Student Development and as an associate professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.

"Jack Townsend had a positive and life enhancing effect on thousands and thousands of students," said Matthew Brink, director of the Career Services Center. "His leadership and vision for career services made possible our students successful transitions into professional life."

The dedication event "not only recognizes the significant contribution of Richard Sharf and Jack Townsend, it highlights the many years of outstanding collaboration between the Career Services Center and the Center for Counseling and Student Development in the delivery of career development services to our students," said Charles Beale, director of the Center for Counseling and Student Development.

The dedication was hosted by UD's Division of Student Life.
