Last year, more than 100 participants lost a total of 340 pounds as part of the challenge. The purpose of the campaign is to provide employees with the tools and resources needed to focus on two simple but powerful healthy habits -- eating more fruits and vegetables and getting regular physical activity.

“At this time of year, fad diets are all the rage,” said Linda Smith, HealthyU program coordinator. “Our goal is to get employees excited about practicing lifestyle choices at work which can really help them feel more energized and improve their health.”

Based on participants' feedback, this year's program features a longer 7-week duration, weekly educational workshops, energizer breaks and weigh-ins across campus. Employees will receive an activity log to track their progress and can earn points by completing healthy habits, attending optional activities and losing weight.

Team participation is optional for those who wish to participate with their co-workers and there is no limit on the number of team members.

A kickoff orientation session will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20, from 12:10-12:40 p.m. in Room 100 Wolf Hall. Incentive prizes will be awarded to all successful finishers and to the top three finishers with the most points earned and the most pounds of weight lost.

To register and for more detailed program information, visit the “Well on Your Weigh” website or call 831-8388.
