11:14 a.m., Jan. 10, 2011----The University of Delaware men's ice hockey club team defeated West Virginia University 7-3 and 2-0 in a pair of weekend home games.
In Friday's 7-3 win at the Gold Ice Arena, the Blue Hens got three goals from freshman Christian Tasker -- his first collegiate hat trick -- and single goals from freshmen Mike Piet, Mark Zeszut and Nick Lepore and junior Dave Conte.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Casella earned his 13th victory of the season.
In Saturday's win at the Fred Rust Ice Arena, sophomore goalie S.J. Broadt had the shutout and the Hens got goals from sophomore Connor Moore and Mark Zeszut.
Of the shutout, Broadt said, "It was nice to see some rubber and make some key stops, but it was the boys up front that really brought home the bacon for me."
The Blue Hens improved to 21-1-1 as they prepare to host two key games with Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League co-leader the University of Rhode Island on Friday, Jan. 14, and Saturday, Jan. 15.
Both games will played in the Gold Ice Arena, with start times at 8:30 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday.
