2:09 p.m., Jan. 19, 2011----Dana Herbert, a University of Delaware alumnus and an accomplished baker who is the owner of Desserts by Dana, is among the last remaining contestants on the TLC reality show Next Great Baker.
The final episode of the eight-week series, which features Buddy Valastro of the popular TLC show Cake Boss as head judge, will air at 9 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24.
Herbert is one of three finalists seeking the $50,000 prize, and a chance to work with Valastro. Seven of the original 10 contestants have been sent home on previous episodes.
In addition to his own business, Herbert, a 1998 graduate of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, is head chef of the Delaware River and Bay Authority.
Herbert said in an earlier UDaily article that he stumbled across the opportunity to be on the show while surfing the Internet.
