By the end of the conference, the UD group was recognized for outstanding leadership and awarded the opportunity to host the 2012 CAACURH No Frills conference.

The UD delegation included Holly Smail, Maria Arbizo, Marisa Hauenstein, Ian Guthoff, Paul Sisson, and graduate adviser Kyle Griffith.

Leading up to the conference, Sisson, a sophomore, spearheaded an effort to develop a bid proposal to host the 2012 regional No Frills conference. The 30-page bid contained all details pertaining to hosting the conference, starting with the theme “Infinite Leadership.”

Inspired by the theme, Sisson, Smail, and Guthoff presented the bid to student leaders from colleges and universities representing Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.

Highlights of the conference bid included: use of Marriott's Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware for lodging; use of the Trabant University Center Theatre for opening ceremonies; opening ceremony speaker Dawn Thompson, dean of students and associate vice president for student life; and a social event in the George Read North residence hall lounge.

During the closing ceremonies, UD was announced as the host of the 2012 No Frills conference, beating the bid from the Residence Hall Association from the University of Charleston in West Virginia.

Students and organizations interested in helping with planning and volunteering during the conference can contact the conference co-chairs at [nofrills2012.conferencechair@gmail.com].

RSA meets on Sundays at 6 p.m. in Room 116 of the Willard Hall Education Building. For additional information or to contact the organization, see the RSA website.
