9 a.m., Feb. 16, 2011----Bruce Robbins, Old Dominion Foundation Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University, will discuss “Cosmopolitanism in Deep Time” during a presentation at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, in Room 127 Memorial Hall.

Robbins, who has written extensively on cosmopolitanism, works mainly in the areas of 19th and 20th century fiction, literary and cultural theory, and postcolonial studies.

He is the author of Feeling Global: Internationalism in Distress (NYU, 1999), The Servant's Hand: English Fiction from Below (Columbia, 1986; Duke, paperback, 1993) and Secular Vocations: Intellectuals, Professionalism, Culture (Verso, 1993).
