The Elkton Road construction project, which extends from Casho Mill Road to Delaware Avenue, began last October and is anticipated to last until fall 2012

Improvements, which were developed through a series of working group meetings and public workshops, include:

--reconstructing the pavement, improving pedestrian, bicycle, transit facilities and intersections improvements;

--improvements to the Elkton Road/Casho Mill Road intersection, including the addition of a second eastbound left turn lane on Elkton Road and providing a left turn from Casho Mill Road onto eastbound Elkton Road;

--improvements to the Elkton Road/Apple Road intersection, including the addition of a westbound right turn lane on Elkton Road and a southbound right turn lane on Apple Road; and

--reconstructing the road between Apple Road and Delaware Avenue to provide one lane in each direction with a center turn lane.

Some nighttime construction is expected to address traffic and safety issues. Detours of some streets adjacent to Elkton Road also are planned during some of the construction phases.
