1:31 p.m., Aug. 2, 2010----Sherry Rowland-Perry, administrative assistant in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Delaware, has been named HR Liaison of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2010.
Liaison of the quarter recognition is given to exemplary members of the University of Delaware's human resources team.
Rowland-Perry works for George Hadjipanayis, Richard B. Murray Professor of Physics and chairperson of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, who was one of those recommending her for the award.
“Sherry's performance is always outstanding. She consistently gives more than 100 percent to all undertakings,” Hadjipanayis said, adding, “Sherry also takes care of all visa paperwork for employees as well as all short term visitors.”
“I was very surprised and pleased when I received the phone call” about the recognition, “and the flowers I received were absolutely beautiful,” Rowland-Perry said. “I feel very honored to have been nominated. There are so many of us who perform HR duties.”
Rowland-Perry has worked at UD for more than 30 years, and has worked in the Department of Physics and Astronomy since the merger with the Bartol Research Institute in 2006.
“I have worked with faculty on many post doc and faculty searches, and it seems like hundreds of short term visitors over the years,” she said. “Many of the post docs have become my 'adopted children' and I love to see them when they come back to visit 'mom' when they return to UD.”
