Artists from the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Denmark and the United States have contributed artwork that will be displayed throughout the UD islands in Second Life.

Several of the innovative pieces on display include interactive options, allowing Second Life avatars to become part of the artwork.

According to Lance Winn, associate professor of art, the artists who have contributed objects to the show often work outside the mainstream art world.

“All artists working in the digital realm are essentially learning on their own as new software is continually developing,” he said. “This show lets people see how these artists have expanded their vision to include original experience in a virtual world.”

At 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, Winn will introduce the show with a talk entitled “Outside of What?” to be given live in Room 120 of Smith Hall and simulcast in Second Life.

Visit UD's Second Life Web page for a direct link to the University's Second Life islands, information about creating a free avatar in Second Life, and to experience the show.
