In The Marriage of Figaro, Mozart's magical music meets the dramatic genius of librettist Lorenzo da Ponte with riotous results in what would be the first of three legendary collaborations, including Cosi fan tutte and Don Giovanni.

Based on an 18th century French play, but set in Seville, The Marriage of Figaro chronicles the eventful wedding day of two clever peasants. It sounds so simple and sweet, but a philandering count, a tormented wife, some excitable adolescents and a few surprises turn the day into an adventure.

Brian Stone, musical director and conductor, will guide the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra in this exciting new production produced and directed by Blake Smith, assistant professor of voice and opera, and designed by Eddy Seger.

“Seeing young people making contact -- and producing -- material of this caliber, and of this cultural/historical importance, is always a very special experience, so you won't want to miss this dynamic production,” Stone said.
